Observed average = 60 × completed intervals ÷ elapsed seconds. The display appears after three complete intervals, but that is not a claim of statistical confidence. Taps faster than 400 ms apart are ignored. Long intervals are retained because the app cannot distinguish a true pause from a missed tap.
